Katie Voravong is a theatre artist based on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples–Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations, also known as Vancouver. After graduating Studio 58’s acting program in 2019, they had been working primarily in Stage Management in the theatre world. Katie has worked with companies such as the Chop, the frank theatre, ITSAZOO, Green Thumb, jk jk, Studio 58, Neworld theatre, Carousel Theatre, and they were the Associate Artistic Producer at vAct (Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre) for their 23/24 season under the mentorship of Derek Chan 陳嘉昊.

 

Presently, Katie's focus is on directing, performance and writing. Most recently, they won the Artistic Risk Award (2024 Vancouver Fringe Festival in partnership with the Cultch) for their solo show I Fear Love

Katie centers their artistic practice with compassion and empathy. They feel privileged to create art for a living and lucky to have the chance to meet and collaborate with so many inspiring individuals.
